These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and the developer of Quin (“we”, “us”) covering the Quin mobile app (“Quin” or the “App”). They also serve as Quin’s End User License Agreement (EULA). By downloading, installing, or using Quin, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Quin is an offline-first personal finance app. It has no sign-up and no login: your accounts, transactions, budgets, goals, and investment records are stored in a local database on your device. We do not operate accounts or servers that hold your financial data — see our Privacy Policy for details. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use Quin.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Quin on devices you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules of the store you downloaded it from (the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, or the Google Play Terms of Service).
You may not: rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the App; copy, modify, decompile, reverse engineer, or attempt to derive its source code (except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law); remove or alter any proprietary notices; or use the App for any unlawful purpose.
Because Quin keeps everything on your device, your data is your responsibility. Quin currently has no cloud sync, backup, or export: deleting the App, losing or resetting the device, or moving to a new device can permanently erase your records, and we have no copy and cannot recover them for you. Keep your own record of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Quin is a record-keeping and budgeting tool. Nothing in it is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Balances, exchange rates, market prices, valuations, and imported invoices may be delayed, incomplete, or incorrect. Verify anything important with your bank, broker, or tax authority before you act on it. Decisions you make using Quin are your own.
Some optional features depend on services we do not control: daily exchange rates (open.er-api.com), Taiwan (TWSE) market prices, the Taiwan Ministry of Finance e-invoice platform, and purchase processing by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. These services may change, be interrupted, or stop being available, and features that rely on them may stop working. Where a feature requires credentials or carrier (載具) details, you are responsible for keeping them valid and for complying with the relevant third party’s own terms.
We may update, change, or discontinue Quin or any of its features. We do not promise that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or permanently available.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Quin is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or financial losses arising out of your use of — or inability to use — Quin. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the App or a subscription in the 12 months before the claim and NT$500. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and your mandatory consumer rights are not affected.
This licence is effective until terminated. It ends automatically if you breach these Terms, and you may end it at any time by deleting the App. Provisions that by their nature should survive — including the disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — survive termination.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always at this address, with an updated date. If you continue using the App after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan), without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the Taipei District Court shall be the court of first instance — except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you a different right, which is unaffected. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
The following applies if you obtained Quin from Apple’s App Store:
The following applies if you obtained Quin from Google Play: these Terms are between you and us; Google is not a party to them and is not responsible for the App. Your use of Google Play is governed by the Google Play Terms of Service, and purchases are governed by Google Play’s billing terms.
Support is provided by email on a reasonable-efforts basis. For questions, support requests, or complaints about these Terms or the App, email twentyoneisawesome@gmail.com.
